Presenters
Lael Neal
Lael grew up in the mountains of southern California and from a very young age knew that she wanted to “get paid to play outside.” The wild spaces in which she grew up instilled a deep sense of conservation and preservation for wild spaces. After moving to the midwest to attend the University of Iowa, she quickly fell in love with the prairie. She currently works for Polk County Conservation as a Natural Resource Technician where her main tasks are land management and native habitat restoration. When she isn’t working, you can find her gardening, biking, backpacking, hiking, or botanizing.
Maria Di Valentin
Maria is a Sr. Engineer at John Deere and passionate outdoor woman. She enjoys cycling (road, mountain and fat tire), kayaking, golf, trap shooting, hiking, fly fishing, snowshoeing, hunting and archery. Maria did not grow up with a background in hunting. In 2020 she and her husband participated in the Field to Fork program offered through the Iowa DNR. There she learned how to bow hunt for whitetail deer.
Olivia LaGrange
Olivia LaGrange is an Easement Specialist with the Natural Resources Conservation Service of USDA specializing in restoring working lands back to wetland ecosystems. She is involved in multiple aspects of the conservation easement program, providing perpetual protection of habitat for wildlife. Her career led her to dive deeper into her love of outdoor activities including paddling, camping and hunting. She started the Field to Fork program this past summer in pursuit to “down a doe” with her bow. She has had success in upland, turkey and waterfowl hunting as well and bow hunting has been a welcome addition to her hobbies. Olivia received a Bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in Environmental Science and Biology where she focused on aquatic ecology.
Lisa Louck
Lisa grew up in Moline, Illinois and, while not growing up around outdoor recreation, found both a career and hobbies that let her to enjoy and explore the outdoors. Lisa is a District Forester for the Iowa DNR, and has enjoyed the job of assisting people in management of their woodlands for 15 years. She lives in Burlington, Iowa with her husband and son, and covers Lee, Des Moines, Henry and Louisa Counties in her private lands position with the DNR.
